A Ming military commander of Uighur origin who was dispatched to Joseon as Regional Commander for the Defense against the Japanese (備倭總兵官) in 1597. An official during the reign of Emperor Guangxu (光緖帝) of the late Qing Dynasty. Appointed to an official post in the Joseon government on the recommendation of Li Hongzhang(李鴻章), he had the power to interfere in Joseon's internal affairs. 마건상(馬建常), 마중서(馬中書)
Ma Jianzhong 馬建忠 마건충
(마젠중)
Ma Jianzhong(馬建忠, 1845 ~ 1900) was an official and scholar during the Qing Dynasty. He went to France in 1876 to study international law, and in 1879 he obtained a law degree. After his return to China in 1880, he became Li Hongzhang(李鴻章)'s staff officer. He helped to carry out Qing policy in Korea between 1880-82, and he took part in the arrest of Daewongun(大院君). 마(馬), 마건충(馬建忠), 미숙(眉叔)

(d. 1570). A native of Tongzhou 通州, Jiangsu 江蘇. He won a jinshi degree in 1523, and held important posts, such as Nanjing Minister of Works 南京工部尙書 and Minister of Revenue 戶部尙書 during the Jiajing era (1522-1566)
