A Confucian classicist who served as an imperial academician 博士 majoring in the Odes (Shi 詩) in the court of Emperor Jing of Han 漢景帝. 원고(Yuan Gu 袁固)
Yuan Huang 袁黃 원황
(위안후앙)
A native of Wujiang 吳江, jinshi of 1586. He worked very well as the magistrate 知縣 of Baodi 寶抵 County, so he was promoted to be a secretary 主事 of the Ministry of War 兵部. During the Imjin War(aka Hideyoshi's Invasion), he came to Korea on the staff of Song Yingchang 宋應昌, military commissioner 經略 of the Ming expeditionary army to defeat the Japanese. He was told to present many ideas to Song during the war. After his military service, he safely returned to China. He was proficient in various academic fields, including geography, hydro engineering, astronomy, and military tactics. 원주사(袁主事), 원황(袁黃)
Yuan Jianlong 袁見龍 원현룡
(위안졘롱)
(?-1621) A Ming general. He became military juren in 1609. He was made commandant and then brigard cammander successively. He came to Korea in 1619, one year after the Battle of Sarhu 薩爾滸 and delivered an edict and 10,000 silver taels to the Joseon court. His mission was to recognize Joseon's efforts during the battle, although the Joseon army had been surpassed by the Qing army. Yuan Keli 袁可立 원가립
(위안커리)
(1562-1633 CE). A jinshi of 1589. As Grand Coordinator (巡撫) of Dengzhou (登州) and Laizhou (萊州), he insisted on a punitive campaign against Joseon when King Gwanghae of Joseon was ousted by a coup in 1623. He was later promoted to Minister of War (兵部尙書) and junior guardian of the heir apparent (太子少保).

Yuan Luqian 袁履謙 원리겸
(위안루쳰)
Yuan Luqian(袁履謙, ?-756) was an official of the Tang Dynasty(唐朝). During the An Shi Rebellion(安史之亂), he was the Chief Clerk(長史) of Yan Gaoqing(颜杲卿), Governor of Changshan(常山太守). When An Lushan(安祿山) attacked Changshan(常山), he fought against the rebel forces despite a lack of soldiers. Eventually, out of supplies, he and his superior Yan Gaoqing were defeated and executed. 원리겸(袁履謙)

Emperor Renzong of Yuan(元仁宗, 1285~1320) was the 4th Emperor of the Yuan Dynasty and the 8th Great Khan of the Mongol Empire. He was the first Yuan emperor who actively supported and promoted Chinese culture after the reign of Kublai.
