On his return journey, his ship drifted ashore to Silla(新羅) during a typhoon, and he became a naturalized citizen of Silla. King Gyeongdeok(景德王) of Silla bestowed him the new surname, Nam(南氏) and granted Yeongyang District(英陽縣) as his possession.
