  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Urangge 亐郞巨 우랑개 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Saoi. The younger brother of Yana. The father of Daisu, Daiha (1429)
Urdi 迃乙知 우을지 A chieftain of 慶源府 阿山堡 藩胡 who attempted to raise a rebellion by spreading a rumor that 崔夢麟 is planning to invade 藩胡. (1583)
Urgi 亏乙只 우을지 A wife of Boro. (1478))
Urgim 亐乙金 우을금 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 時建. The son of Dusengge. (1425)
Urgina 于乙其乃 우을기내 A head of Gyengwon Ya-in who was killed by Joseon soldier (1583)
Urgudai 吾乙古多 오을고다 He is the son of Menggebulu. He is the son-in-law of third daughter of Nurhaci and he is a grandson of Wang Tai who was a member of Orangkai. His name mentioned in 1609, 1621's documents
Uri 亐里 우리 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in outside of 訓戎江. The nephew of Jaige. The cousin of Sanggato. (1439)
