  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Songgoro 松高老 송고로 Mid 15C, an Orangkai who was hostile to Joseon (1440)

Songgoto 松古土 송고토 Mid 15C, a 指揮 of Orangkai who suggested to capture a lynx for the king but being sustained. (1458)
Songgotu 索額圖 색액도 A person who lived at that time of Kangxi(康熙) of Qing dynasty and he was succeeded of conquering Garidan(喝爾丹). He sreved as Grand mentor of the heir apparent(太子太傅)·grand minister of the imperial household department controlling the imperial quards(侍衛內大臣).(it referred 1677's documents)
