  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Sojungga 所衆介 소중개 former Chinese(楊里人) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived at the downside of Haingseongjeo. The son-in-law of Mohali (1455)
Sojungga 所衆哈 소중합 a Ya-in(野人) who lived in 甫伊下. (1461)
Sojungga 所衆可 소중가 1. a brigade vice commander(副萬戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Morian.(1455) 2. commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in Morian(1455). 3. An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 江外愁州. The son of YAsangga(1455)
Sojungge 所衆巨 소중거 A brigade vice commander(副萬戶) of Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 上訓春(1455)
Somgen 所音巾 소음건 A Dodok(都督) of Hulun who was given the king's gift. (1438)
