  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Jarongga 者弄介 자롱개 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in江外 愁州. (1455)
Jasdongga 者叱同哈 자질동합 A 大護軍 of Orangkai(兀良哈) who dedicated local products. (1462) and was robbed of the bestowed goods at 抱川 on his way back home with Dong Fanca, Amidajirji, and others. (1462)
Jasongga 者送哈 자송합 He is the fifth son of Siorgaci. He is a younger brother of Amin Taiji who is the nephew of Nurhaci. He was in control of one division(1部) of the Jurchen camp. (1621)

Jato 者吐 자토 A director(司正) of Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾音會. The son of Dong Samparo. The grandson of Dong Osaga. The brother of Isiga, Jebge.(1455)
Jayonga 者容可 자용가 A commander(指揮) of Orangkai(兀良哈). (1411)
Jeberhe 姐伐許 저벌허 A Ya-in(野人) who was imprisoned in 江界府. (1528)
Jebge 者邑哈 자읍합 Mid 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was confined in 會寧 in relation to Nang Borhan. Nang Gunan's son, Nang Borhan's grandson, Nang Garingga's nephew. A brother of Abica and Modaga. (1459-1460)
Jebge 者邑可 자읍가 An Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾音會. The son of Dong Samparo)\. The grandson of Dong Osaga. The brother of Isiga, Jato, Jebge. (1455)
Jebidongga 這比冬哈 저비동합 He is the husband of the sister of Niu Sangdongga. (1459)
