Liu Huangtang 劉黃裳 유황상
(류황탕)
(1529-1595). A native of Guangzhou 光州, Henan 河南. A jinshi of 1586. When he served as Vice Director 員外郞 of the Ministry of War 兵部, he came to Joseon as a staff member of Song Yingchang 宋應昌, the military commissioner 經略 of the Ming expeditionary army in Joseon. He defeated the Japanese in Pyeongyang 平壤 among other places. He was later promoted to Director of the ministry. 유원외(劉員外), 유황상(劉黃裳), 황상(黃裳), 유원외랑(劉員外郞)
Liu Ji 劉集 유집
(리우지)
Liu Ji(劉集) was a medical technician(醫工) who was favored by Emperor Xuanzong(宣宗) of the Tang Dynasty. When Emperor Xuanzong was about to appoint him to a post related to state financial affairs, Liu Zhongying(柳仲郢) opposed the appointment. 유집(劉集)

(187-219 CE). A retainer of Sun Quan 孫權 who was famous for his filial piety during the late Eastern Han period.
Liu Ji 劉基 유기
(류지)
(1311-1375). A native of Qingtian 靑田, Zhejiang 浙江, jinshi of 1333. He served the Yuan government for a short time as a good but minor local official before he gave up the office. Zhu Yuanzhang 朱元章, then a rebel leader, invited him to his camp. Liu helped Zhu capture other rebel leaders including Chen Youliang 陳友諒, Zhang Shicheng 張士誠, Fang Guozhen 方國珍. He also helped Zhu eventually destroy the Yuan court and build the Ming dynasty. Liu established the legal and administrative systems of the Ming along with Li Shanzhang 李善長 and Song Lian 宋濂. Due to uprightness and jealousy, he had many enemies in the court, so eventually he was entrapped in his political enemies' plot and was dismissed from the court. He died of depression and exasperation. 유기(劉基), 성의백(誠意伯)
Liu Jiang 劉彊 유강
(류장)
(25-58 CE). The eldest son of Emperor Guangwu of Han 漢光武帝. He was appointed as the heir apparent in 26 CE. When his mother, Empress Guo, was deposed, he asked Emperor Guangwu to be appointed as a regional king of his own accord. 동평(Dongping 東平), 동해왕(Donghai Wang 東海王)

Liu Jin 劉瑾 유근
(류진)
(1451-1510). A native of Xingping 興平, he castrated himself to become a eunuch. With the help of a eunuch with the surname, Liu 劉, he managed to enter into the palace which was the reason he took Liu as his surname. During the Hongzhi 弘治 reign, he was sentenced to death but was saved. Because of this incident, he held a grudge against court officials. During the Zhengde 正德 reign, he became the emperor's favorite due to his skill at training dogs, dancing, and wrestling, and the emperor entrusted all manner of important national affairs to Liu. However, he was said to have plotted against the throne and was executed at a market in Beijing. 근(瑾), 유근(劉瑾)
