(d. 318). The son of Liu Yuan 劉淵 and an emperor of the Former Zhao (Qian Zhao 前趙) during Sixteen Kingdoms period. When Liu Cong studied in Luoyang(洛陽), the capital of the Western Jin 西晉, in his early years, he was known for his knowledge of the classics. (1436-1516). A native of Huarong 華容, jinshi of 1464. He served as Director of the Bureau of Operation 職方郞中and was skilled at military affairs. When the Yellow River flooded during Hongzhi's 弘治 reign, he was ordered to take charge of the matter. He successfully accomplished the work, but he became ill and retired. Later he was reappointed by the Emperior Hongzhi 弘治 as Minister 尙書 of the Ministry of War 兵部. During the Zhengde 正德 Emperor's reign, he was on bad terms with the emperor's favorite eunuch, Liu Jin 劉瑾, so he was exiled to Suzhou 肅州.
