Emperor Lizong(理宗, 1205~1264, r. 1224-1264), Zhao Yun(趙昀), was the fifth emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty. In 1224 Emperor Ningzong(寧宗) installed Zhao Hong(趙竑) as the Heir Apparent, but after Emperor Ningzong's death, Shi Miyuan(史彌遠) helped Zhao Yun(趙昀) to be enthroned by forging the emperor's will. During his 40 years reign, the court was dominated by a number of powerful courtiers, such as Shi Miyuan. In 1234 the Jin dynasty(金) was ended by the joint forces of the Mongols and the Southern Song Dynasty. In 1259, however, the Mongols invaded the Southern Song dynasty. Emperor Qinzong(欽宗, 1100~1161) was the last emperor of the Northern Song. His name is Zhao Huan(趙桓). He was the son of Emperor Huizong(徽宗) and the older brother of Emperor Gaozong(高宗) of the Southern Song. After the sack of Kaifeng (開封) in 1126, he was captured by the Jin and the Northern Song Dynasty ended. Emperor Renzong(仁宗, 1010~1063) was the fourth emperor of the Song Dynasty. He was the sixth son of the Emperor Zhenzong(眞宗 and ascended the throne at 13 in 1022. Since he was too young to rule, Empress Dowager Liu(劉太后) ruled as regent during his early reign. During his reign, the Song court chose pacifism as national policy, concluding humiliating peace treaties with the Liao(遼) and the Western Xia(西夏).
