  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Aisan 艾山 애산 Gangga and Ciraoi and others brought him. It's known that he was killd by them without any doubt(1502)
Aisan 阿伊山 아이산 He came from 碧團. He commited robbery along with Mangsan that's why he was sent back(1498)
Aison 愛孫 애손 Early 17C, Hece's father (1595-1601)
Aitemur 阿伊帖木兒 아이첩목아 A commander of the Orangkai(吾郞哈). (1422)
Ajangga 阿將哈 아장합 1. Early 16C, a Ya-in(野人) who promised to repatriate a Korean woman. (1531) 2. →Ni Ajangga
Ajiahua 阿家化 아가화 Mid 15C, a Chinese man who reported what he knew about 송고로. He was captured by 송고로 at the age of fourteen but escaped. (1475)
Ajiga 阿之可 아지가 A Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 餘山. The brother of Aigangga. The nephew of Gim Jorangga. The cousin of Mugengge.
Ajige 阿之巨 아지거 The 12th son of Nurhaci. The brother of Daisian, Hong taiji, Manggultai, Tanggudai, Degelei.
Ajongga 阿朝應介 아조응개 A Jurchen(女眞) who lived in Bayan家舍. (1455)
Alingga 阿令哈 아령합 Late 15C, an 穩城 Ya-in(野人)(城底野人) who was retaliated because he showed the soldiers of Joseon a way to houses of Ya-in(野人), so the houses were burnt. (1492)
