  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Agana 兒哥乃 아가내 An Urangkai who lives in 何伊亂. He reported the situation of Ya-in (1460)
Agarok 阿可祿 아가록 A battalion commander(千戶) who lived in 愁州 and his name was among the people who died(1423)
Age 阿巨 아거 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 上訓春. The son of Bak Ga. The brother of Joci, Sige, Bugui, Ari, Berida (1455)
Agen 阿根 아근 A Hulun who held Joseon person hostage (1524)
Agoca 阿高車 아고거 He was a 指揮使 of Orangkai who lived in 毛憐. He is the father of Gim Guci. He was killed in Joseon. (1440-1455)
Agoca 阿古察 아고찰 A 指揮 of 弗朶兀河衛 who sent Fanca, also a 指揮, to dedicate local products. (1439)
Agoci 阿古赤 아고치 An Odoli(斡朶里) who lived in 吾弄草. The son of arongga (1455)
Agoja 阿古者 아고자 A Kolkan(骨看) who lived in 草串. The son of Nyu Niu Sosdongga. The grandson of Cangdongga. The nephew of Nyu Niu Sodargim (1455)
