  • 01.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a result of a research project of collecting relevant terms and information from the Veritable Records of Joseon Dynasty conducted by the National Institute of Korean History. The research aimed to prepare and utilize the glossary as a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong.
  • 02.Names of the participants in the research project and their affiliation at the time of the project are as follows.
    • -Kim Juwon (Dep. Linguistics, Seoul National University), Yurn Gyudong (Yonsei University Institute of Humanities),
      Kang Eunji (Institute of Latin American Studies, Seoul National University), and Lee Hun (Korea University)
  • 03.The Romanization of personal names is based on the original pronunciation of the name. If it is difficult to determine the original pronunciation only with the Chinese characters of the name, it was estimated as close to the original pronunciation as possible.
  • 04.The Glossary of Mongolian, Jurchen, and Manchu Personal Names is a basic reference for the English translation project of the Veritable Records of King Sejong. It does not mean an official interpretation of the Veritable Records of King Sejong by the National Institute of Korean History. In addition, it is not complete because it only presents the most relevant information gathered from the translation process so far. If more accurate information is collected from the subsequent translation process, the glossary will be revised after internal and external review.

Yasangge 也尙巨 야상거 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who lived in 阿赤郞耳. (1455)
Yasda 也叱歹 야질대 Mid 15C, a 司正 of Orangkai(兀良哈) who reported the movements of Hulun Udige(Hulun兀狄哈). He lived in 鐘城 and 愁州. (1461-1462)

Yasina 也時乃 야시내 1. 15C, Odoli(斡朶里) a commander who offered local products 2. 15C, a Ya-in(野人) who was lain in Chelwonbu (1426-1439)
Yasingga 也時應哈 야시응합 Early 15C, an 兀良哈 指揮 who presented local products and being bestowed goods by the king (1426-1427)
Yasingga 也時應介 야시응개 An Odoli(斡朶里) who presented local products to the king. He lived in Amokha(阿木河). (1428-1431)
Yasirgadeu 也失哈德兀 야실합덕올 An Orangkai(兀良哈) who was appointed to a 蒲州副萬戶. (1456)
Yasita 也時他 야시타 A 夫Doho衛 指揮 동지 who sent Yaona, a 指揮僉事, to dedicate local products to the King. (1439)
