Shi Wansui(史萬歲, 549-600), from During(杜陵) of Capital commandery(京兆), was a prominent general of the Sui Dynasty(隋). He was one of the four great generals at the foundation of the dynasty(開國四大名將). From an early age he was good at horse riding, archery, and fond of reading military books. After his father's death, he inherited the title Lord of the Taiping district(太平縣公). He disliked Yang Su(楊素)'s severe laws and penalties, as well as the merciless killing of innocent people. Yang Su also hated Shi Wansui's command tactics.
