Liu Mianhua 劉綿花 유면화
(류몐화)
(1427~1493). His real name was Liu Ji 劉吉, a native of Boya 博野, jinshi of 1443. He served as bachelor and then compiler of the Hanlin Academy 翰林院. During the reign of Chenghua 成化 (1447-1487), he was made academician of the Grand Secretariat 內閣學士, Minister 尙書 of the Ministry of Revenue 戶部, and Grand Secretary 大學士 of the Grand Secretariat 內閣. After Emperor Hongzhi 弘治 was enthroned in 1487, Liu recieved the emperor's favor and trust. Taking advantage of the imperial favor, he imprisoned many political enemies. Later he lost the emperor's favor and retired. Although he was often prosecuted by censors, he served as the grand secretary for 18 years. As he managed to endure so much criticism, people called him Cotten Liu 劉綿花. 유면화(劉綿花), 유길(劉吉)
Liu Mianzhi 劉勉之 유면지
(류몐즈)
Liu Mianzhi(劉勉之), from Jian Prefecture(建州), was a Neo-Confucian scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty. In the reign of Emperor Gaozong(高宗), he was invited to court by Lü Benzhong(呂本中), but he returned home due to Qin Hui(秦檜)'s objections. 면지(勉之), 치중(致中)
Liu Muzhi 劉穆之 유목지
(리우무즈)
(360-417). An official at the end of the Eastern Jin 東晉 period. A native of Dongguan Commandery 東莞郡. He enjoyed the confidence of Liu Yu 劉裕. 도화(Daohe 道和), 도민(Daomin 道民)
Liu Nai 劉耐 유내
(류나이)
Liu Nai(劉耐) was a student of the Military School(武學) during the reign of Emperor Lizong(理宗) of the Southern Song Dynasty. When the students of the Four Schools(四學) impeached the Grand Councilor Shi Songzhi(史嵩之) for Shi's refusal to retire from office during the period of mourning for his father in 1242, he denounced other students, advocating Shi Songzhi. 유내(劉耐)
Liu Pengli 劉彭離 유팽리
(류펑리)
(r. 144-115 BCE). King of Jidong 濟東王 during the Western Han period. 제동왕(Jidong Wang 濟東王), 팽리(Pengli 彭離)
Liu Penzi 劉盆子 유분자
(류펀쯔)
(b. 10 CE). A descendant of Liu Zhang 劉章 who was a grandson of Emperor Gao of Han 漢高祖. He was enthroned as a puppet emperor by the Red Eyebrow 赤眉 Rebels in the late Western Han period.
Liu Pi 劉濞 유비
(류피)
(216-154 BCE). King of Wu 吳王 and a nephew of Emperor Gao of Han 漢高祖. He initiated the Revolt of the Seven Kingdoms to resist the centralizing policies of Emperor Jing 景帝 in 154 BCE but was defeated. 비(Pi 濞), 오왕(Wu Wang 吳王)
Liu Pin 柳玭 유빈
(리우핀)
Liu Pin(柳玭), son of Liu Zhongying(柳仲郢), was an official and jinshi during the late Tang period. In the reign of Emperor Xizong(僖宗) and Emperor Zhaozong(昭宗), he was appointed to higher positions. He enjoyed a very high reputation in those days. 유빈(柳玭)
Liu Pingfu [Liu Ping] 劉平甫[劉玶] 유평보
(류핑푸[류핑])
Liu Ping(劉玶,1138-1185) was an official of the Song Dynasty. His original name was Liu Ping(劉玶). He was the son of Liu Zihui(劉子翬) and Zhu Xi(朱熹)'s teacher and friend. 유평보(劉平甫), 유평(劉玶)
Liu Pingshan [Liu Zihui] 劉屛山[劉子翬] 유병산
(류핑산[류쯔후이])
Liu Zihui(劉子翬, 1101~1147) was an official and scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty. After he resigned because of illness, he dedicated himself to lecturing to disciples, one of whom was Zhu Xi(朱熹), the most prominent Neo-Confucian scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty. He was posthumously honored as Wenjing(文靖). 유병산(劉屛山), 병산(屛山), 언충(彦沖), 병옹(病翁)
