(1421-1492). A native of Changning 長寧, Sichuan 四川. He won first place in the provincial examination in 1444. The next year, he passed the palace examination with the honor of second place and became compiler 編修 of the Hanlin Academy 翰林院. He presented memorials to sucessive emperors advising them to conduct studies and state affairs seriously. He was made Vice Minister 侍郞 of the Ministry of Rites 禮部 in 1476 and then Minister of the same ministry in 1481. He was a talented writer and scholar.
