황립극 (황리지) |
A native of Yuancheng 元城, Zhili 直隷 and jinshi of 1604. During the reign of Tianqi 天啓, he became a loyal subordinate of Wei Zhongxian 魏忠賢, the strongman in the court of those days. He was appointed Minister 尙書 of the Ministry of Rites 禮部 as well as Grand Secretary 大學士 in 1625. In the next year he became the first ranking grand secretary 內閣首輔. After Emperor Chongzhen 崇禎 was enthroned, he was immediately dismissed. | 황립극(黃立極) |

(d. 1633). A native of Liaodong 遼東. Origianlly he was a lower officer. As he made military contributions successively, he was promoted to vice regional commander 副總兵 and then regional commander 總兵. He defeated Manchus in Lanzhou 灤州 and suppressed rebellions in Gado 椵島 and Lushun(旅順). Later he was defeated by Manchus and committed suicide. | 황룡(黃龍) |
