Cai Ji(蔡齊, 988~1039) was an official of the Northern Song Dynasty. He hailed from Jiaoshui District(膠水縣) and earned the jinshi degree(進士) in 1015. Cai Jing(蔡京, 1047-1126) was a politician and calligrapher of the Northern Song Dynasty(北宋). In the reign of the Emperor Huizong(徽宗), eunuch Tong Guan(童貫) recommended him as chancellor, a position he held for 16 years. He was a member of the faction of New Policies(新法) and an able administrator. However, he flattered the emperor to encourage luxury and levied heavy taxes on the people, so he was criticized as a treacherous minister. When Jin(金) invaded and Emperor Qinzong(欽宗) ascended the throne, he was disgraced on the charge of causing the national crisis and died of disease. | 경(京), 채(蔡), 채경(蔡京), 원장(元長) |
